So to eliminate that altogether use elements that can “take a beating”!

So here they are.

Masculine, romantic, and classic…

Snake grass, seeded euc and italian ruscus.

Ornamental sticks with seeded eucapultus and beargrass loops.

Why do you ask, would we eliminate flowers…

1. It looks modern.

2. Its a fresh idea.

3. The groom likes it(I’m sure he doesn’t want to wear something frilly anyway).

4. The #1 reason is because during a wedding there is a vigorous amount of hugging.

This will obviously damage the boutonniere that is a guarentee.

Notice how sarah has twisted the snake grass around to form a bold shape(picture 2), to create a designers touch.

Or how she has looped the beargrass around(picture 5) to create movement.

These minor touches make these boutineres withstand hugs, and a full night of fun!

Much of the dressing etiquette, with a few exceptions,  apply to the best man and ushers.

Tie and boutineer colour for the groom’s men will depend on the bride’s maids’ dresses, and should never be the same as the groom’s.

Just as the bride is easily distinguishable from her maids, the groom should also be easily identified from his men. So try one of our fun designs!

Our Florist Sarah McDonald had lots up her sleeve when prepping for this years show.  For 2011 we were trying something a little different with our booth,  by showing to two amazing, and completely stunning designs.

One side of our booth we displayed jewel tones,  the newest fad for the upcoming year.  Using a palette of  vibrant colours and muted hues creates visual splendor, while adding feathers and jewel accents or a touch of glam.

Sarah says “You don’t have to use jewel on jewel tones.  In order to obtain this look, use bright orange with teal.  Or yellow, fuchsia, and purple.  You’ll obtain this amazing fun look!”

Some flower suggestions to use would be:

* Fuschia coloured Gerbera

* Lush Cymbidium Orchid

* Dark violaceous Lisiathus

* Orange Tiger Lilys

* Black Magic Roses

Suggested fabric colours for bridesmaid dresses would be a deep eggplant coupled with a dark purple or matte silver linens on the guest tables.

If you really want to go full out, for all your tables go half orange and half fuchsia.  Mix up your centerpieces to be the same style.  All your bridesmaids can also be in multi coloured dresses!

Our florist does suggest if your girls are going to be in jewel tones, make sure they have a monochromatic bouquet to best emphasize the complete look.

Jewel Tone Weddings 2011

The second half to our booth was  a country side theme.  A barn is not as easy to decorate as a reception hall.  With careful planning and coordination, however, a barn can go from rustically simple to romantically gorgeous.

When thinking of floral for your country side wedding, choose larger blooms a more dramatic statement.

Some flower suggestions from our florist are:

* Fresh green Gladioulus

* Blush Garden Roses

* Cream Hydrangea

* Blonde Ranunculus

* Sweet autumn Clematis

Include country side plants such as grains,  pumpkins, and hay for rustic charm.

Bring in potted plants such as trees to add greenery.  Or add moss to centerpieces.

Use pails or buckets, canning jars, or watering cans as vases.

We suggest you try new innovative ways to show guests where to sit, try carving an apple and placing name cards on top.

When choosing colours for your outdoor wedding, try to pick colours that will off set the barns shadows and dark shades.  Colored horseshoes that match the wedding colours, corn stalks tied with coordinating ribbons, hay bales draped with matching fabrics for low seating or floral arrangement stools are great ways to add colour.

For brides maid dresses, choose soft natural hues.  Such as pinks, soft green, yellows, and browns.  Natural elements to match the outdoors.
